Universal Studios Hollywood has unveiled the ride vehicles for its upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster, giving fans a first look at the cars that will power the park’s fastest attraction yet.

The new coaster, set to open in summer 2026, will feature vehicles inspired by some of the most recognisable cars from the Fast & Furious film franchise.

Four iconic cars join the new coaster lineup

The ride will feature four unique vehicle designs based on fan-favourite cars from the films:

  • Mazda RX-7
  • Nissan Skyline GT-R
  • Toyota Supra
  • Dodge Charger

Each vehicle has been carefully modelled to reflect the styling and legacy of the cars seen in the blockbuster movie series.

The Dodge Charger, associated with Dominic Toretto, represents the classic American muscle car that has become a symbol of the franchise. Meanwhile, the Mazda RX-7 takes inspiration from Han Seoul-oh’s distinctive modified 1997 model.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R, made famous by Brian O’Conner, is another standout vehicle, recognised for its unique styling and performance upgrades. The lineup is completed by the Toyota Supra, inspired by the memorable orange car driven by O’Conner in the original film.

A roller coaster designed to simulate drifting

What makes Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift unique is its vehicle design and ride mechanics.

Each car will feature a 360-degree rotating motion, allowing riders to feel as though they are drifting through corners while the coaster travels along the track.

This dynamic movement aims to recreate the high-speed drifting sequences that helped make the movie franchise famous.

Universal’s fastest coaster yet

When it launches, the attraction will become Universal Studios Hollywood’s fastest roller coaster, reaching speeds of up to 72 mph (116 km/h).

The ride will travel along approximately 4,100 feet of track, soaring across parts of the park and passing over the well-known escalators connecting the upper and lower lots.

Universal has also incorporated sound-reduction technology into the ride’s design to minimise noise while maintaining the thrill of high-speed racing.

A major attraction for the park

The coaster represents a major new addition to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the park, previously described the attraction as a major transformation for the destination.

According to Strobl, the ride will introduce a new level of adrenaline while reshaping the layout and experience of the park.

Expansion of the Fast & Furious ride experience

The Hollywood installation will be the first version of the attraction, but it will not be the last.

Universal has already confirmed that Universal Studios Florida will receive its own Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster in 2027, replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit attraction.

For fans of the film franchise and thrill rides alike, the new coaster promises to bring the high-speed action of the Fast & Furious universe directly into the theme park experience.
