Happy Women’s Day 2026 from Driver Digest SA

Driver Digest SA proudly wishes women across South Africa a Happy Women’s Day 2026.

Every year on 9 August, South Africa commemorates the historic 1956 Women’s March to the Union Buildings, when more than 20,000 women stood together against apartheid pass laws.

Today, Women’s Day also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout modern South African society — including within the automotive world.

Women are increasingly represented across motorsport, automotive engineering, vehicle manufacturing, journalism, dealership networks, transportation, logistics and the many other industries that keep South Africa moving.

They are also enthusiasts, collectors, racers, mechanics, everyday commuters and adventurers who share the same passion for cars and driving as anyone else.

Today we honour the remarkable women who helped change South African history while celebrating those who continue breaking barriers and pursuing their ambitions.
