The Joy of the Saturday Drive
Most of our driving during the week has a purpose. We commute to work, take children to school, visit clients, collect groceries and battle our way through traffic.
Saturday can be different.
Sometimes, driving doesn’t need to be about getting somewhere as quickly as possible. A weekend drive can simply be about enjoying the road.
Pick a destination outside your normal routine. Take the scenic route rather than the highway. Stop somewhere for coffee. Visit a small town, lookout point, beach or attraction you’ve driven past dozens of times without exploring.
Before leaving, remember the basics:
- Check your fuel or battery range
- Inspect your tyre pressure
- Take water for longer journeys
- Make sure your phone is charged
- Plan a safe route home
Then enjoy the experience.
You don’t need a sports car or luxury vehicle to appreciate a Saturday drive. Sometimes your everyday car becomes something different when you’re no longer watching the clock.
Put on your favourite playlist, roll down the window if the weather allows and enjoy the scenery.
After spending the week driving because you have to, Saturday is your opportunity to remember what it’s like to drive because you want to.
