Turn 1 Tyre Wall Upgrades Following Recent Incident

On Saturday, 15 November, a high-speed crash at Blockkoin Corner (Turn 1) prompted Motorsport South Africa (MSA) to mandate immediate reinforcement of the tyre wall in that section. In the interest of safety and compliance, Killarney has scheduled a comprehensive upgrade to the tyre barriers.

Work will begin on Sunday, 23 November, and continue until Thursday, 4 December. While the upgrades won’t affect the entire circuit, they will require partial closures and temporary restrictions.

During the construction period:

  • No testing, private bookings, or multi-user sessions will be accepted (with the exception of one confirmed booking on Thursday, 27 November).
  • Short-circuit racing practice remains permitted on Monday 24 November and Monday 1 December.
  • All short-circuit racers will be informed to take caution around Turn 1, where personnel and vehicles will be active.

These improvements come at a crucial time, as the circuit prepares for the Cape Endurance event on 13 – 14 December, ensuring full compliance and top-tier safety for all competitors.

A Weekend of Performance and Progress

This weekend at Killarney promises both excitement and advancement. Drivers attending the final Car Track School of 2025 can expect a morning of high-quality instruction, thrilling on-track experience, and great community spirit. Meanwhile, the scheduled upgrades to Turn 1 reflect the raceway’s continued dedication to safety and responsible circuit management.

With major racing ahead in December, these steps ensure that both drivers and spectators can look forward to a safer, stronger Killarney International Raceway.
