StreetFest 2025 Brings Cape Town’s Street-Car Culture to Killarney
Cape Town’s street-car culture takes centre stage once again with StreetFest 2025, set to close out the motorsport calendar at Killarney International Raceway. Known as the final major motorsport gathering of the year, the event blends drag racing, drifting, spinning, sound-offs, and custom car culture into a full-day petrolhead celebration.
More than a traditional race meeting, StreetFest 2025 captures the raw energy of Cape Town’s street scene in a controlled motorsport environment. Thousands of fans are expected to attend for a day packed with tyre smoke, loud engines, music, and family-friendly entertainment.
A Celebration of Street-Car Culture

StreetFest was born from Cape Town’s underground car culture, shaped by bold modifications, high-powered builds, and a love for spectacle. StreetFest 2025 brings this energy to Killarney with a programme that celebrates both performance and personality, from start-line burnouts to eye-catching stance cars.
The event appeals to a wide audience. Hardcore drag racing fans, drifting enthusiasts, spinning supporters, and sound system competitors all share the same space, creating an atmosphere that feels more like a festival than a race day. It is loud, unapologetic, and distinctly South African.

Drag Racing, Drifting, Spinning and Sound-Offs

While drag racing on the main strip remains the headline attraction, StreetFest 2025 offers far more than straight-line speed. Drifting action takes place on the Half Main, while the Castrol Spinning Pitch delivers continuous crowd-pleasing stunts throughout the day.
Spinning, a uniquely South African motorsport that originated in the 1980s, sees drivers sling-shot their cars around a rectangular pitch in smoke-filled figure-of-eight patterns, often pushing tyres to destruction. Drivers regularly perform dramatic stunts, including hanging out of windows or climbing onto the roof mid-spin, making it one of the most visually striking disciplines at the event.
The Joubert Pits host a world-ranked IASCA Sound-Off alongside the drag strip, while a dedicated Show ‘n Shine area showcases custom, modified, and stance cars, ensuring constant action across the entire venue.
Freestyle Spinning Event and Year-End Closures
In addition to StreetFest 2025, Killarney hosts a dedicated freestyle spinning event in support of SPIN (Supporting People In Need) on Saturday 27 December, running from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the Castrol Spinning Pitch. This standalone event focuses entirely on spinning, celebrating the discipline’s roots and its strong local following.
Visitors should also take note of Killarney’s year-end closures. The Admin Office will be closed from 12 noon on Thursday 18 December and will reopen on Monday 12 January 2026. The main circuit closes from Thursday 18 December and reopens with a Cape Helldrivers Tar Oval event on Saturday 17 January. The Castrol Spinning Pitch remains closed until Tuesday 20 January 2026, while karting activities pause from Monday 22 December until Monday 5 January 2026.

StreetFest 2025 and a Fitting Year-End Send-Off
As the final motorsport event of the year, StreetFest 2025 represents the perfect send-off for Cape Town’s car culture. With drag racing, drifting, spinning, sound-offs, and family-friendly entertainment all rolled into one, it remains a highlight on the local motorsport calendar.
Combined with the freestyle spinning showcase and the year-end circuit break, the event marks a moment to celebrate the community, the culture, and the passion that keeps South African motorsport alive. For one last time this year at Killarney, the street takes centre stage.
