Blessed Sunday Week 35: Sometimes the Best Drive Has No Destination

Not every journey needs a destination.

During the working week, driving often becomes purely practical. We commute, collect children, visit clients, run errands and navigate traffic while watching the clock. The vehicle becomes a tool for getting from one responsibility to another.

Sunday can be different.

There is something wonderfully simple about taking a relaxed drive without worrying about arriving somewhere at a particular time. It might be a coastal road, a quiet country route or merely a familiar journey enjoyed without weekday congestion.

You begin noticing things again: the landscape beyond the windscreen, the sound of the engine, changing scenery and perhaps even the pleasure of driving itself.

Of course, you don’t need to burn fuel simply for the sake of it. Your Sunday journey might already involve visiting family, heading to church, enjoying lunch somewhere or exploring a local attraction.

The difference is the pace.
