SAPFA Aero Club Awards 2025: Celebrating Excellence
Join us on 15 November 2025 at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg as the South African Power Flying Association (SAPFA) presents its prestigious SAPFA Aero Club Awards 2025. This gala event honours the finest in South African sport flying, recognising pilots, navigators, officials, and teams who have excelled across competition flying disciplines throughout the year. Enthusiasts, volunteers, and newcomers alike will gather to celebrate courage, skill, and the spirit of aviation.
The evening offers an ideal opportunity for networking, reminiscing, and commending the people behind the achievements. Whether you took part in rally competitions or supported the organisation of these events, the SAPFA Aero Club Awards 2025 spotlights your contribution. With awards presented under formal criteria and ambitions for future flying seasons, the night promises recognition, inspiration, and community.
Recognising flying excellence

The SAPFA Aero Club Awards 2025 is built around the coveted Aero Club Colours, awarded by SAPFA to recognise outstanding achievements in sport flying. These include competing as a reserve team member in a world championship, winning the President’s Trophy Air Race with at least fifty entrants, or becoming South African Champion in a sprint-flying or timed event.
These accolades are not merely for participation; they represent measurable success and excellence in discipline, timing, navigation, and teamwork. At the same time, the event emphasises sportsmanship, perseverance, and consistent performance, reinforcing SAPFA’s commitment to driving competitive flying standards in South Africa.
A night for all contributors

Not all heroes fly the aircraft: the SAPFA Aero Club Awards 2025 also honours administrators, judges, competition directors, and officials who have dedicated at least ten years to flying-sport roles, or ten years as a chairman or responsible official of a club or association.
This ensures the event recognises the full spectrum of the aviation community: those who work behind the scenes, build infrastructure, maintain standards, and enable others to shine. Their contributions may be less visible, but they are essential to the success of competitions, safety, and the continued growth of the sport. The awards night is their moment in the spotlight too.
