Why You Should Keep Your Car’s Windscreen Clean Inside and Out
A dirty windscreen can make an ordinary drive more tiring than it needs to be. Dust, fingerprints and greasy marks scatter light, making it harder to see clearly when driving towards the sun or facing headlights at night.
While the outside gets attention whenever you wash your car, the inside often goes unnoticed. A thin film gradually develops on the glass, sometimes becoming obvious only when sunlight hits it at the wrong angle.
Give Both Sides Some Attention
Cleaning both surfaces helps improve visibility. Use a glass cleaner suitable for automotive use and a clean microfibre cloth. Apply the cleaner to the cloth when working inside to avoid spraying your dashboard.
A few simple habits can help:
- Clean the interior and exterior glass regularly.
- Use separate cloths for cleaning and final buffing.
- Wipe dirt from your wiper blades.
- Keep the washer reservoir topped up with suitable washer fluid.
Avoid cleaning hot glass in direct sunlight, as the product may dry before you can remove it properly.
Make Clear Visibility a Habit
Before setting off, check for smears at eye level. If the windscreen still looks hazy, another wipe with a fresh cloth can make a noticeable difference.
